The "inference" was that I was saying that only Republicans can be corrupt. The fact that you claim that my entire post makes this implication even though I reference democratic corruption without disputing it, explicitly say that Black should have resigned because of that corruption, and make use of a verb that indicates corruption under the current leadership, is mind-numbingly, time-wastingly ridiculous.

In actuality, it wasn't just your last sentence that made your inference. I will admit that I erred in saying that.

I should have indicated the inference was contained throughout the entire post and cartoon.

Antonyms for "stem" are appropriate in the way you chose to write your words.

Once again, it's YOUR blog. You get the last word.

"Stop the flow" - exactly.

I said that Republicans would not "stop the flow" of corruption. What flow? Whatever flow there is under the democrats. My statement is indeed saying that the republicans won't help, but it is in no way saying that there is no corruption under the democrats.

"Stem" was the exact word I meant to use, and it says exactly what I wanted it to - it refers to stopping an already existing situation. The added context of my statement about Black (which you ignored) further drives home the point that I don't deny that democrats can be corrupt too.

You're talking nonsense in a ridiculous attempt to try to catch me in what would amount to a trivial mistake.

(Whew)

Your convoluted attempt to weasel out was a tortuous read.

"Stem" means "stop the flow". You used the phrase "....putting Republicans into office isn’t going to do much to stem corruption ...." which indicates an opposite mening for "stem".

From answer.com:

For stem:Antonyms: abet, aid, encourage, help.

You said what you said. Your inference was clear.

If that is NOT what you meant, say so, and admit that your choice and use of the words was a poor choice.

My final sentence said that putting Republicans in office isn't going to do much to stem corruption. You can't "stem" corruption if it doesn't exist. If I agree that it exists under the democrats, then my last sentence clearly is not saying that only Republicans can be corrupt. Furthermore, the fact that I said Black should have resigned is further indication that I recognize that Democrats can also be corrupt.

In fact, nothing in my cartoon or post contradicts Sam's last sentence. Switch the two parties, and his statement pretty much summarizes what I'm saying: "Republicans are just as likely to become corrupted as Democrats, as both parties are in fact, human."

"How did you get that from anything I said or drew? "

Umm, from your post's final sentence.

Or do you think we should just ignore your inference?

WRONG. Democrats are just as likely to become corrupted as Republicans, as both parties are in fact, human.
