No problem - I was just poking fun at the complaints of the anti-ACLU crowd, so the phrase wasn’t intended to make total sense. As far as consistency goes, the ACLU is generally pretty consistent. Religious expression by individual citizens: Good. Endorsement of specific religions by government agencies (or employees in an official capacity): Bad.

Sometimes they do go overboard. But they definitely are not trying to quash religious expression in general.
