North Carolina House Speaker Jim Black is under some scrutiny right now. Among other things, Black – an optometrist – is taking some heat for his proposal to require full eye exams for all North Carolina kindergartners.

    Would you deny a kindergartner the trauma of being called “four eyes”? If it was good enough for JB, it’s good enough for our kids.

    Maybe they’ll pass a law requiring surgery rather than glasses, so the kids can avoid any taunting.
