Political Compass
By Anthony | February 12th, 2006 | 10:25 pmIn the interest of helping Michele solve her ongoing identity labelling crisis, I posted a link to politicalcompass.org over at Ed Cone’s blog.
The Political Compass expands on the traditional “left vs. right” political spectrum and gives a more precise measure of where one stands. Give it a try and post your results if you’d like.
My results?
Economic Left/Right: -2.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.49
I’m slightly to the left on economic issues, and rather libertarian on social issues, which appears to put me just a little to the right of Gandhi and the Dalai Lama.

I’m in the neighborhood of Gandhi and Mandela. Quite cool.
So I’m “libertarian left,” believing in the supreme value of each individual and in voluntary collectivism. Sounds like Christianity to me!! ๐

I agree, “libertarian left” is indeed quite cool. Of course, my opinion may be a little biased, based on my own results.
Now, can you stop all this nonsense about calling yourself “conservative” and finally embrace your inner liberal? ๐
February 13th, 2006 at 12:52 am
LOL. Yeah… well, I’ll be the psuedo-liberal with the “Abortion stops a beating heart” T-shirt, getting booed by the all the real liberals. How ’bout that? ๐ Oh and P.S., what do I do about liking GB2?

All the local folks should play and then someone good at graphics should plot the results. How cool a visual blogroll would that be?

Michele:
“what do I do about liking GB2?”
I’m not sure, but it needs to stop immediately. Maybe pick up an Al Franken book?
David: That’s definitely a cool idea. I could plot the results without a problem, we just need to get people to post their numbers.

Jon Lowder posted his at his site:
Economic Left/Right: -1.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.67
Ginger Bush commented at my site:
Economic Left/Right: -5.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritoutarian: -3.95
Jeff Sykes commented at Ed’s:
Economic Left/Right = 2.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian = .92
That’s six of us including you, me and CM. If it’s not hard to do and not hard to update, you could plot the results and we could post the image. I’m sure it would spur folks to do it if they saw it.

“Iรขโฌโขm not sure, but it needs to stop immediately.”

Sue’s done it and Fecund Stench as well. We’re rolling. I’m glad you posted the link to this.

Excellent – thanks for the updates. I’ll be working on the graphic soon.

The Political Compass
Potato Stew is going to work on a graphic charting local folks scores on The Political Compass. Seems that there are about 11 or 12…
