Anonymous bloggers, beware

Monday, January 9th, 2006

From now on, if you plan on saying anything annoying online, you’d better do it under your real name: Last Thursday, President Bush signed into law a prohibition on posting annoying Web messages or sending annoying e-mail messages without disclosing your true identity. This seems like a ridiculous violation of the first amendment, and it’s […]

MSN Censors Chinese Bloggers

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

MSN Spaces, Microsoft’s blogging service, has been helping the Chinese government suppress dissenting voices by monitoring and censoring Chinese blogs that use the MSN service. According to Rebecca MacKinnon, they’re getting more aggressive and have even shut down one popular, outspoken blogger. I never liked MSN Spaces anyway – they list comments in reverse-chronological order. […]

I’m Back

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

I was away visiting family for Christmas, but I’m back now. Posts may be sporadic until I get back into the swing of things. Hope I didn’t miss anything too important!

New Feature: Recently Commented

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

I’ve added a new feature at the top of the sidebar: The “Recently Commented” section will list the three most recently commented upon posts, along with who made the most recent comment and the time that it was made. As a sidenote, check out the full text of the cnn link (emphasis added): http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/internet/11/10/geezers.who.blog.ap/index.html

Blog Renovations All Around

Sunday, November 6th, 2005

Wow, I step away for a week or so, and everyone’s reworking their blogs. Well, ok, not everyone, but two people at least. Ed Cone has a shiny new TypePad blog, and Cara Michele has given Chosen Fast a sparkly new look. Nice work on both! Are there any other redesigns I missed?

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Jakob Nielsen, venerable pundit of website usability, has published a list of the top ten design mistakes made by blogs (via Pharyngula). Here’s a rundown of the list, with some comments of my own:

Plead the First – new look and new URL

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005

Blogging was so much fun, I decided to spruce things up a bit. A little bit of Photoshop, an easy WordPress installation (courtesy of Dreamhost, my existing webhost for a different, non-blog website), and here it is: Plead the First. I still need to tweak and categorize some of my imported blogger posts, and my […]
