WTC Movie Preview
By Anthony | May 22nd, 2006 | 1:11 amI went to see The DaVinci Code on Sunday afternoon. Beforehand they had a preview for an upcoming Nicholas Cage movie called “World Trade Center”. I found it unbelieveable that they would create a trailer like that. They actually showed firemen and policemen buried in rubble beneath the crumbled buildings. If one goes to see the WTC movie, they are obviously expecting to sit through scenes like that. However, such images shouldn’t be sprung on unsuspecting viewers by including them in the movie trailer.

its called free speech and thats what has made this country move better than any. If you didnt like it you should have closed yoru eyes and plugged your ears. This movie needs to be done to show the world how that day was. People like you are use to the saying…thats imporper, they shouldnt do that….well proper or not..get over it tidle winks..this is life..

Thanks for the comment, and for the free speech primer. I trust you were there backing up the Dixie Chicks when they took flack for their free speech a couple of years ago?
I am in no way suggesting that they shouldn’t be allowed to make such a trailer, I’m simply saying that it’s in poor taste to put such raw, graphic imagery in a trailer in front of a random movie with no warning as to what to expect. You say “close your eyes and plug your ears”… well, by the time one realizes that they might want to do that, it’s a little too late and the scars have been rubbed raw again. I feel pretty confident that most people will have no trouble remembering “how that day was” without having their emotions hijacked by this movie preview.
“This is life” … sorry, to “people like me” (whoever they may be), life is more than a Nicholas Cage hollywood blockbuster looking to make a buck off of the tragedy of 9/11.

I am from NY- my mom, dad and sister were 2 blocks away. My sister was about to get on a morning plane that day….. I do not believe in this or any movie unless the money generated goes to the families of the victims and those whose lives were forever changed. NO ONE should profit from any tragedy.

I think profitting from a tragedy that isn’t even 5 years old is a travesty. There were plenty of documentaries televised in the months that followed 9/11. Anybody who wants to revisit the images of that tragic morning need only order a copy of one of those televised specials. The profits from the sales of those documentaries support charities to help the survivors of the victims. This is in contrast to the mere 10% of the first few days that the charities will receive from Stone’s movie. I will not be seeing this movie either in theaters or on DVD (rented or purchased). I agree that it is important to remember the heroes of that day – and we definitely should never forget that we have enemies who wish to kill us just because we are Americans. However, it seems heartless to be making money on a tragedy this soon. Movies like The Patriot, Pearl Harbor, and the like are all about wars that took place a lot further in the past than the 9/11 attacks. I worry that the grief of the victims’ family members is still too raw – and this movie could be emotionally harmful to them.

Some of these above “comments” concerning the TRAILER??!!!- how simplistically and juvenille you all must be NOT to know WHAT the Possible “Content” will be of such a Title AS ” WTC “! You all are really showing your “Youth” and inexperience as it is!
Or are you all just the advance front of the normal kook left that seems to go around anticipating BLOGS on such topics–coming out to lay down your Propaganda by “innocently” attacking BOOKS, MOVIES AND STORIES THAT REFLECT AMERICAN BRAVERY and SUCCESS?
Would you also be as SHOCKED to see “Possible” Nudity too if you clicked on to see a trailer for a Movie with a title of ” Debbie does Dallas “??
Would you be SHOCKED and Unsettled and ” Emtionally Scarred ” too to witness Violent , Bloody scenes with a trailor to a Movie titled, ” AX KILLER from the WOODS ” ??
So Please !! Go back and finsh your senior year at high school next semester and then go onto to college –get a part time job too– and maybe THEN ( if REALLY aren’t just here not being honest enough to tell everyone WHO you represent and YOUR Agenda in voicing your complaints here ) you all might be better made ” Worldy-Wise ” and “prepared” for ALL of Lifes’ little ” Unexpected ” situations that might be THROWN at you.
I remember all the ” Concern ” and ” Serious Objectives ” BLOGGED out there on interent sites, against the Movie ” Flight 93 ” ……………….W-A-Y B-E-F-O-R-E the Movie ACTUALLY WAS EVEN SHOWN IN THEATRES!!—Got ya on that one!! But you got caught cause you all couldn’t WAIT to attack that movie either!
This Movie Protrays nothing more or less than what the director O. Stone ,
( and the actors who agreed to play the said roles ) had wanted to protray; that of the HUMANITY and STRENGTH of Ordinary Americans and their Courage that was called forth from them both in the line of Duty and in Civilain Lives- to face the Challenges that were presented on a day when : America, it’s INNOCENT Civilians, and a nation were Cowardly Attacked on September 11th, 2001.
It is a Movie more based on the ” Human Side ” than rather than that of past Documentaries that centered upon the Physical Attacks ; planes, hichjackers, terrorist philosophies, and destruction of concrete and metal structures.
If the Movie had any said ” Objective “- it was that of bringing to us the HUMAN SIDE, the PERSONAL SIDE and the Involved FAMILYS’ SIDE of a tragedy and HOW they Courageously face the Challenges that our whole Nation also witnessed that day. ( although I understand that there are some people who do NOT like others seeing that in times of Strife and Tragedy it IS the “FAMILY UNIT” along with “FAITH” that pulls Americans through these times: NOT the “GOV’T” as some of these people complaining would LIKE to faslely portray themselves!
IF the same sad complainers above ” ACCIDENTALLY ” turned on the NEWS that day–and the reporter had said ,”…a plane just flew into a World Trade Tower and after a brief pause for Station Identification– we will be showing you the scene TAPED LIVE we were able to get from a tourist that captured the entire event …even NOW as our cameras are also there NOW Filming…”—-
——-Would you all ALSO be BLOGGING such ludecrious statements of ” SURPRISE ” and that of ” …being caught off gaurd…Un prepared…possibly being EMOTIONALLY SCARRED…” if you STAYED ON THAT CHANNEL to CONTINUE TO WATCH the rest of the Anticipated reporting??
Or IF you Changed the CHANNEL to ANOTHER Major News Station KNOWING that they TOO ALL “Report” the very same things when a LIVE Situation is occurring??-Would your own INNOCENT thinking NOT “Prepare” you for WHAT could possibly follow on the reports?

There was another such movie also was ” Flight 93 “; which also showcased through piecing together cell phone calls and another FACTUAL historical Airplane Flight and tragedy. Was THIS movie “..Too Soon..”??”..too RAW??..” ” ..too Monetarily GREEDY ..” too???
Was the very same CNN Mini-Movie about ” America Remembers ” the same too?
And just as any movie; whether WAR orientated or general tragedy facing mankind – it portrayed the Courage and Unselfish Bravery that those who were called into action had shown- and the Family-Nieghbor-Friends and total Strangers reactions to this tragedy and how courageously they faced it.
Many OTHER Movies; such as HURRICAN KATRINA, The PERFECT STORM, JAWS, APPOLLO 13, The California Earth Quake and many other NATURAL Disasters have also been done using such ” Human-Side” portraits WITHOUT any such insane claims like those that have been made here concerning THIS Event –only because THESE people do already have an AGENDA concerning this whole ” America-Attacked” and their ” Anti-War ” and Liberal stands .
Such sorry and sad excuses used here against this movie by those with their Real unstated Political and Social Agendas are nothing more than examples of the ” Red-Herring ” tactics that have been used int he past by such groups and organizations that do NOT want America to reflect on such aspects that America WAS the “VICTIM” and that We WERE the ones Cowardly Attacked that day. they do NOT want us to REMEMBER what happened and to RALLY around the ” ..UnCommon Valor that was a Common Virtue ..” That day.
The title “WTC” isn’t enough for an Average person ,”…not to know the content and graphic nature ..” of this movie??- how typical liberal that these Talking Points are that these sad individuals use that are following the standard ” Americans are DUMB/STUPID and NEED the Gov’t to lead-intervene and direct their lives for them-seeing how they can NOT think for themselves?

” THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW ” ?- a great SCI-FI Movie with incredible special effects–but nothing MORE than a Real REACH of Impossible Science eevnts that are protrayed as being ” Feasible ” that is laced with/ and ends IN a ” GLOBAL WARMING SCARE TACTIC ” Agenda moviestatement with one liners like at the end of “..the Earth NEVER looked so CLEAR!(now)..”- preaching to us how AFTER Death/and our OWN Fool-hardy Polluted-lead lives we FINALLY “Found” the Errors of our Polluting-Mass Capitalism-Cnetered Errant ways”–
—Should THAT Movie have a ” WARNING ” ?? ” Warning!: the movie you are about to see is Violent, Graphic, and MAY Un-settle others as we try to protray what is scientifical impossible to happen but COULD happen if the EXTREME conditions we make up ever DID Happen “??
Should we also NOT produce such ” Graphic ” movies with titles such as “JAWS ” too?-seeing how THAT movie Title doesn’t lead the watcher to believe that Bloody, Gruesome SHARK ATTACK SCENES will be seen too?
” Hurricane”??- maybe THAT Movie shouldn’t be shown also so as not to SCARE OFF those who may live out west or wish to travel out there too?
” The PERFECT STORM ” ??–will we also be OFFENDING the sensiblities of those who work at sea?-Fish? answer the vocational call to join the NAVY or MARINES?- give children nightmares?
Should we also NOT produce without warning ( because those in their 60’s, 70′,s and 80’s still alive today are ALSO too ” Stupid ” to know about the enclosed “CONTENT”!) Movies with titles like ” PEARL HARBOR ” ??–because then VIEWERS, many who were there who first hand witnessed the barbarian attack and murder of civilians and friends and loved ones on that day – would ALSO be ” …caught off-gaurd by the violent, graphic nature..” of That Movie of an Historically Accurate Movie too?
ALL of these are called ” MOVIES “–and ALL of them have “TRAILERS”–which started IN ROME ( like where EVERYTHING started anyhow! : HIC, HOC,HAC…) and really means ” to TEASE ” and entice someone to go “further” on to -take the next step-and go PAY to WATCH the REST of the show.
“APOLLO 13 “‘s TRAILER also did show a scene when Tom Hanks turns around looking “very worried” and the NEXT scene is the Cockpit computer ALARMS going off–Something in the ENGINE ” Smoking”–THEN!!! a “BANG”!!–and he turns and says, ” Mission Control..we have a problem..”-
Should a WARNING be posted for THAT TOO?–other wise all Young, Pre-Teen FUTURE, “possible” Astranuts might get SCARED and NOT go into a School that would lead them into Flight school.
Yup! Too many Kool Aid Drinkers with an AGENDA to go out and BLOG their Groups Views out there without they themselves having the COURAGE to come out and state who THEY stand behind.
And when I see those with an AGENDA ( that they will never publically state themselves because of their own cowardly nature of NOT wanting others to see their True Political and Social agendas ) use terms like,

–I myself can only remember not so long ago how the whole DISCUSSION of the events leading UP to and INCLUDING the investigation into 9/11 thru the 9/11 Commission WAS ” HIGH JACKED ” by those with their own Agendas too , and never ONCE did these same complainers here stand up to voice their objectives then I have to laugh at their Hypocracy too.
Those who state such juvenile objections to such Movies , Protraits and documentaries that only show the Great Traits OF Humanity; Courage, Dignity, Unselfish Bravery and their loyality to their Sworn Duty to SERVE & PROTECT using such baseless and empty one liners like,

HERE IS SOMETHING VERY INTERESTING!
Through my very long and active life. ( I am 62 this winter…and HAVE to move to a warmer climate!) I have witnessed the workings of Many “Organizations” ,as I had previously mentioned above, that have a certain POLITICAL and SOCIAL-ENGINEERING Agenda in ” Spreading their view points under various false names and FROM various slightly-Varying lines of Attack / Presentation too!
Most are of course “Political” in nature–and even just as in with this “movie” and some of the really immature-BASIC-Objections given ABOVE as they have had in the past, they HAVE ” BLITZED ” the Internet with their own ” Talking Points ” –and of course–in a waythat makes it “LOOK” like it is the Generally-Held “Opinion ” of Many!–
When in Reality it is only mainly the very saem small handful of a few.
Well–here alos is a List of various LINKS that state–ALMOST WORD FOR WORD–(although I had witnessed this all many time before during Political Campaigns and in ” Letters to the Editor ” ) some of the Very SAME

WELL THIS MONTH THE WTC MOVIE IS ON THE SHIT LIST…THESE FUCKHEADS WERE MAKING THIS MOVIE B4 THE 2ND TOWER EVEN FELL PROBABLY…PEARL HARBER WAITED HOW LONG B4 THEY MADE A FLICK???THESE MONEY GRUBBING HOLLYWOOD JERSKSAWS DIDNT GIVE US A MINUTE! THEY STILL FOUND A BODY PART THERE LIKE 9 MONTHS AGO! WTF!!~ I WILL NOT SEE THIS MOVIE UNTIL THEY REBUILD THE FUCKIN BUILDING FIRST!! I thank you for commenting, though I feel kind of bad that you spent all that time typing all those words but obviously didn’t bother to really read the original post. You refer a couple of times to me â€? CLICKING ON The TITLE â€? of â€? WTC â€?, but as I made clear in the original post, I was in the movie theater, watching previews before a totally unrelated movie. There was no clicking of anything.
I am also amazed at the ease with which you lump together seemingly anyone who has ever said or done anything you disagreed with. For instance, regarding the movie “Flight 93” you say, “Got ya on that one!! But you got caught cause you all couldn’t WAIT to attack that movie either!” However, I never attacked that movie. In fact, from what I remember about the previews for it, they were much more tastefully done than the WTC preview. Furthermore, I never even attacked WTC, only the way the trailer was done for it. I’m sure it makes it a lot easier to argue against people if you just assume they are guilty of everything you are against, but it seems to me to show a bit of a disregard for truth and accuracy.
About the only semi-coherent point I could pull out of your posts was the parallel drawn between being upset by being caught off guard at the trailer, and being upset by being caught off guard at the original newscasts of the events of 9/11. Almost a good point, however there is a difference between the two situations. It’s the newscaster’s job to keep us informed. This will sometimes involve televising unpleasantness. There is a public interest served by broadcasting news of that magnitude and keeping people informed and up to date as events are unfolding. As for the trailer, there is no compelling interest in re-opening wounds, especially when you consider that the trailer could have been done in a much more tasteful manner.
I don’t really see much else in your posts that warrants a response, but if you or anyone else would like me to reply to a particular item, just say so.

Ok first of all. You can’t even begin to say that those scenes shouldn’t be sprung up to the public, I live in new york city. IN fact, two blocks away from the world trade center right on chambers st near BMCC.
If you don’t want to see it, then don’t.
I’m sure the people in NYC, such as myself want to see it and see how well they’ve made it to look just like what happened. I’ve seen way worse than what’s shown in the movie.
I can handle it. I’m gonna see it.

I agree, Marie. I have no problem with those scenes being in the movie – people can then choose to go see, or to not go see it. As I stated, my problem is with those scenes being in a movie trailer that’s shown without warning before an unrelated movie.
I’m not sure why everyone seems to think that I think the movie shouldn’t have been made, or that those scenes shouldn’t be in the movie. I’m perfectly fine with that. My criticism is very limited here – explicit and emotional scenes dealing with a very recent and very devastating tragedy should not be a part of a movie trailer that airs to the general public (such as before an unrelated movie, or on TV).
